School of Medicine Wins $200 Million to Develop a Better Flu Vaccine

The School of Medicine's Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health was awarded a contract worth up to $200 million to develop and test better seasonal influenza vaccines. The seven-year contract from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is one of the largest ever awarded to the School of Medicine. NIAID's ultimate goal is to develop a universal vaccine to protect against emerging flu strains, one that's effective with a single dose.
