Media Relations

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs’ Media Relations Team promotes UMB research, programs, inventions, and scholarship to external audiences. We put UMB experts in touch with local and national media outlets and report the news to our UMB community. 

Services

External Communications

• Host news events
• Prepare and distribute news advisories and releases
• Encourage and support media coverage of UMB experts, accomplishments, and good deeds
• Respond to media inquiries
• Train UMB experts to work effectively with media

Internal Communications

• Prepare editorial content for UMB homepage and The Elm website
• Write/edit opinion pieces for UMB faculty

Event Support

• Host and produce in-person/hybrid/virtual events
• Support client-produced live events

Emergency Communications

• Support Police and Public Safety and Office of Emergency Management as secondary emergency messaging staff
• Provide public relations advice and support to emergency medical technicians during emergencies
