What We Do

In our meetings, we discuss issues we are working on and hear from invited presenters about issues across the University and the local community.

The senate is a conduit to hear about issues from campus administrators and leaders and pass them down to the faculty, as well as a conduit to gather information from faculty across campus and pass that up to the administration and campus leaders, so they can use the information to make UMB a better place for everyone.

UMB Faculty Senate Meeting Schedule

Academic Year 2020-2021

The Faculty Senate Meetings will continue to host meetings during the summer.  Both former and newly elected senators are invited to attend. Beginning in September, meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month from September to June. WebEx meetings will be held until further notice. Once in person meetings are permitted, they will be held in the President’s Boardroom, 14^th floor, Saratoga Building from 12:00pm-1:00pm (lunch served from 11:30).

Shared Governance Statement

Shared governance is a priority at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). We believe in a shared responsibility among staff, faculty, administration, and students to promote a collaborative process whereby UMB and the faculty, staff, and students have regular dialogue on important issues of concern to the parties. The common shared objective is to enhance the goals of the institution.
