Through a structured curriculum, students participating in the program will:

Observe the practice and organization of health care in the US

Observe the practice of surgery and medicine in a US medical setting

Engage with selected University of Maryland School of Medicine preceptors

Engage in learning activities at a major US research institution with options to attend lectures and presentations in the areas of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, law, social work and graduate education

Deepen knowledge of US health system and medical research concepts through didactic sessions

Engage in cultural activities on the UMB campus and in the Baltimore/Washington DC metro area
Evaluation and Certificate
Participating students will be evaluated based on criteria agreed upon by the three sponsoring institutions and earn a DDUCEP certificate upon completion of the observership program.
