Warehouse Services

UMB has a warehouse with 10,000 sq/ft of storage space located on UMBC’s campus. The storage space is used for the following UMB functions. 

• Shipping/Receiving 
• Processing Surplus Property for auction 
• Processing IT equipment for recycling and disposal 
• Temporary storge for UMB’s departments and schools (space is limited with restrictions) 

Surplus Property

• Collect any Surplus Property from departments that is still operational and has a market for resale so the equipment can be auctioned on UMB's GovDeals page (Through this process, Surplus Property is able to contribute to UMB’s sustainability goals, and generate additional funds for departments to use towards future purchases)
• Dispatch any surplus property auctioned on UMB's GovDeals page to buyers after payment is received
• Reconcile ACH payments received from UMB's GovDeals page with General Accounting so funds can be allocated to the departments after their equipment is sold

IT Equipment Recycling/Disposal

• Download manifest from UMB’s IT Disposal System
• Collect all IT equipment listed on Manifest and prep for disposal or recycle
• Dispatch all collected IT equipment to Certified IT disposal vendor (A Better Way Computer Recycling) for processing and certification
• Reconcile Certificate of Destruction against UMB’s Shipping Manifest to confirm all equipment was captured and properly disposed
