INTRODUCTION

Members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) are committed to providing quality service to the campus community. Agency members are expected to always conduct themselves professionally and with courtesy. The agency investigates all allegations of poor service, brutality, or unprofessional conduct of any member of the agency. This is done to resolve any incidents or perceptions of poor service as well as comply with the standards established by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

In compliance with CALEA Standard 26.2.5, the agency reviews all complaint records and compiles a statistical summary which is made available to the public and agency members. During the calendar year of 2020, there were 40 internal complaints and five external (someone outside of UMBPD) complaints filed. Each complaint was investigated. Below is the listing of the complaints and the result of the investigations:

INTRODUCTION

Members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Force are committed to providing quality service to the campus community. In compliance with CALEA Standard 52.1.5, the agency reviews all complaint records and compiles a statistical summary which is made available to the public and agency members.

During the calendar year of 2016, there were twenty (20) major complainants and eight (8) minor complaints filed against twenty-five (25) members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Force. Each complaint was investigated. Below is the listing of the primary or most serious complaints by type (major or minor) and the results of the investigation:

INTRODUCTION

The members of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Force are committed to providing quality service to the campus community. The agency investigates all allegations of poor service, brutality or unprofessional conduct on the part of any employee of the agency. This is done to resolve any incidents or perceptions of poor service as well as to comply with the high standards established by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Additionally, agency supervisory and administrative personnel conduct reviews of all the following instances involving agency personnel: Traffic accidents; departmental property losses and uses of force. Use of force reviews are conducted in each incident where police officers discharge firearms; point firearms; utilize defensive batons; take actions that result in or are alleged to have resulted in injuries or death and apply physical force when conducting police functions.

During the calendar year 2015, there was three (12) Major complaint and thirty (60) minor complaints filed against the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Force employees.  Each complaint was investigated. Below is the listing of the complaint types and the results of the investigation:
