My name is Sarfraz Ali and before I was a police officer, I worked for the Department of Corrections. I’ve spent 17 years as a police officer and five years at corrections, with a total of 22 years of state time. My wife and I have worked to send my three sons and one daughter to college, and I enjoy doing yard work in my free time.

- What is the most rewarding aspect of your career?
- I would say the most rewarding aspect of being a police officer is the feeling of contributing to society in a positive way and helping to keep the people of Baltimore safe.
- What made you decide to go into law enforcement?
- Since I was young, I’ve always had a passion for law enforcement. I have always wanted to be a part of the people who protect the citizens of their country.
- What is your greatest achievement on the job?
- I would say keeping drugs off the streets and helping the community morale as a whole.
- What is your greatest achievement outside of the job?
- My greatest achievement is successfully sending my kids to college in order to pursue a higher education.
- What makes for a great day on the job?
- I would say a successful day consists of keeping drugs off the streets and maintaining order in the city.
- Knowing your job can get stressful, how do you maintain your sanity?
- Through remembrance of my Lord and a strong faith in my religion, I am able to push the stress of work aside.
- What would you say to someone to encourage them to go into law enforcement?
- The feeling of protecting the citizens and contributing in a positive manner is one of the best feelings a person can have!
