Congratulations to the ATIP 2018 Inaugural Round Award Recipients!
From a total of 25 applications, 12 one-year milestone-driven pilot grants were awarded to innovative projects spanning the translational research continuum. These 12 funded projects are led by investigators from UMB’s schools of social work, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and medicine, and include both projects funded under the Innovative Collaboration Pilot Grants and the Community-Engaged Research grants. Over half of all funded projects include collaborations across schools. Funded projects include preclinical testing of novel therapeutic compounds, imaging studies in humans, the development and implementation of diagnostic tests to improve clinical outcomes, and community-based participatory research. The breadth of topics funded highlights the diverse research being pursued by UMB faculty members. These projects are expected to generate robust pilot data that will lead to sustained collaborative relationships by securing external funding and advancing the clinical and commercial development of UMB research.
