Headcount History by School, 2011-2015

Total Fall 2015 headcount enrollment is 6,329, an increase of 0.8% from Fall 2014. The Graduate School, Pharmacy, and Medicine showed an increase in enrollment while Dentistry, Law, Nursing, and Social Work have a decline in enrollment.  Over five years, the School of Law's enrollment has decreased by 27%, while the enrollment in the School of Pharmacy has increased by 17.4%.  During that same time span, the overall headcount enrollment at UMB has decreased by 1.0%.

FTES History by School, 2011-2015

Total Fall 2015 FTES enrollment is 6,151, a decrease of 1.1% from Fall 2014.  The Graduate School, Medicine, and Nursing increased in FTES enrollment from Fall 2014 to Fall 2015, while Law, Pharmacy and Social Work decreased in FTES enrollment.  FTES enrollment for Dentistry was unchanged.  Over a five-year period, the total FTES enrollment at UMB has decreased by 1.6%.

Headcount Change by Degree

The decline in enrollment for Fall 2015 is largely attributable to decreases in the Nursing MS (-176), Law Day JD (-46), Law Evening JD (-17), Medicine MD (-10), and Dentistry Post Graduate Certificate (-10) programs.  The BSN in Nursing program showed the largest gain in enrollment between 2014 and 2015, with an increase of 76 students (11%).  Enrollment in the MS in Health Science Program increased by 36 (92%) and the Pharmacy MS programs increased enrollment by 34 (34%) from 2014 to 2015.  The new MS in Law program included 29 students enrolled during the first term of the program's existence.  Another new program, the certificate program in Applied Thanatology had an enrollment of 13.

Projected vs. Actual Headcount by Degree

Fall 2015 enrollment total is 0.3% greater than projected. While many programs are close to the projections, some have significant deviations. The Pharmacy MS, Nursing BSN, Law Day JD, Law LLM, and Law Evening JD programs enrolled the most number of students over their projected enrollments. Nursing Practice DNP, Nursing MS, Dental Hygiene BS, Pharmacy PharmD, and Dentistry Post Graduate Certificate have the largest disparity among the programs that failed to reach their projected enrollment.

Headcount by Gender

Women comprise 71.3% of the total Fall 2015 enrollment, dominating all programs except for Law LLM and Dentistry PhD, where men account for 57.7% and 75% of enrollment, respectively. The Dentistry DDS, Dentistry MS, Law Day JD, Law Evening JD, Pharmacy PhD, Clinical Research Certificate, and Dentistry Post Graduate Certificate programs are split equally or almost equally.
