Title Change: Peter J. Murray
Dear Colleagues:
I’m delighted to share with you that Peter J. Murray, PhD, is now chief information officer and senior vice president for information technology. Dr. Murray joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) in 2002.
Dr. Murray oversees the operations of the Center for Information Technology Services, which implements and supports academic and administrative technologies including human resources, payroll, finance, email, research, and teaching and learning systems, as well as telecommunications, web application development, and the University’s network infrastructure.
UMB looks to Dr. Murray to provide appropriate oversight, direction, and coordination of UMB-wide information technology planning, policies, committees, initiatives, and strategy. His leadership was invaluable in the move to telework and tele-education due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Murray will continue to report to Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA, interim provost and executive vice president. I know you join me in congratulating him on this recognition of his work.
