UMB Research Profile

UMB is recognized as one of the pre-eminent public research universities in the nation.

Faculty in the schools of dentistry, law, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and social work generated $638 million in extramural funding in Fiscal Year 2024, contributing to important advances in basic science and applied research. An exciting portfolio of patented inventions is available for licensing.

To fuel the translation of research and the commercialization of new drugs, diagnostics, and devices, the University of Maryland established a 14-acre BioPark, bringing much-needed laboratory and office space to the area and encouraging collaboration among biotechnology companies and the University.

    UM BioPark

    Become part of a growing community of science joining other emerging, high-growth life science companies and translational research centers of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). For early-stage to mature bioscience companies, the BioPark offers a sophisticated laboratory and office environment on the University's vibrant academic medical center campus. In 2017, the Association for University Research Parks (AURP) named the BioPark the "Outstanding University Research Park of the Year."
